Why did we take one step forward, and at the most important moment for Bulgaria we take two steps back?, asks the former prime minister on the occasion of the annulled decisions
Former Prime Minister Kiril Petkov sharply attacked the first steps of Galab Donev’s office. “Why did we take one step forward, and at the most important moment for Bulgaria, we take two steps back?” he asked in a Facebook post.
First of all, Petkov commented the newly formed crisis headquarterswhich has to deal with the “energy chaos”.
“A gas crisis headquarters is being set up to work 24/7 – but there is no information requested from the company that is expecting the seven delivery ships, nor is there a conversation with Turkey about free port space for the ships. There is no call to the company that has reserved capacity for us in Greece. There is no information about talks with Greece about unloading more than the agreed liquefied gas in Revitusa, after our neighbors announced an expansion of the terminal’s capacity. But there is already talk about Gazprom and long-term contracts,” the former prime minister wrote.
And he asks the questions: “Don’t we see that even Germany is being restricted in the supply of gas from Russia? Isn’t it most important for the people to have security of supply? What exactly is the crisis headquarters doing?”
For a reason the gas connection with Greece Petkov believes that she is already at risk right on the final stretch.
“By protocol decision of the new Minister of Energy dated 08/03/2022, our decision of 07/22/2022 was canceled in the part “approving the election of the ICGB Supervisory Board” (the company that will manage the interconnector, note ed. ) Thus, the company will not meet the requirements to change the corporate structure according to the Independent Transmission Operator model. There is a risk of delaying the deadline set by the regulators. This means a delay in the drastic reduction in the price of gas from Azerbaijan. Why? Commissioning the connection will save Bulgaria millions!” commented Petkov.
According to him, it is curious why two more decisions of his government, related to the preparation of Bulgaria’s membership in the OECD and the construction of playgrounds and a day center for the elderly in Yambol, are being cancelled.
Petkov defines as the unmotivated change of the NRA management despite record revenues and very good collections and asks why this is being done.
“They are introduced Mandatory masks everywhere indoors in Sofiaconsidering that only 2.5% of the intensive care beds are filled – why?”, asks Petkov.
On this occasion, the PP called on the caretaker government to reconsider the imposed measure. “There are no objective reasons for mandatory wearing of masks everywhere indoors in the capital, even just for 15 days. With a total number of hospitalized patients throughout the country – about 1,000, with about 50 in intensive care units, this means using 10% of hospital and 2 .5% of intensive care beds.The morbidity curve is falling, there is no burden on the healthcare system, there is no risk to the life and health of patients and no additional restrictions are imposed in Sofia, especially in the height of the summer tourist season, traditionally concentrated outside the capital.
Petkov also points out that Brickell TPP has started smoking again just hours after the previous government was gone.
“Bulgaria is really at a watershed. The model of feudal dependencies, behind-the-scenes moves and retrograde strategies, which cost the country terribly, is attacking from every angle. And the most important thing for people at this moment is to have stability, to have peace, to builds and looks forward”, Petkov believes and calls on all Bulgarians to vote in the next elections.
