Solemn opening of the Gersthofen church fair!
The Kirchweih Gersthofen will take place from October 11th to 21st, 2024 on the new festival grounds north of Thyssenstrasse – parallel to the B2. The professional team to revitalize the Kirchweih Gersthofer includes the Riegele brewery and the three people from the management of Bob’s Gastronomie: Stefan “Bob” Meitinger, Christian Killisperger and Christian Ress. The festival tent is completed by the Gersthofer veteran Bernhard Happacher.
Opening of the beer tent: tradition meets modernity
On October 11th at 5 p.m. the Gersthofen church fair will be opened with free beer, the marching band and the Batzenhofen music club. At 5.30 p.m. an ecumenical service will follow with the blessing of the new fairground and the festival tent and the christening of the new hot air balloon of the Gersthofen Balloon Museum. The beer tapping by Michael Wörle, First Mayor, is planned for 6 p.m. The music will be provided by the Gersthofen town band and from 8 p.m. The Jam’son will be in the festival tent.
Musical program: From brass music to party hits
From traditional brass bands to folk music to modern party bands – there is something for every taste at the Gersthofen church fair. Over the course of the festival week, musical highlights such as the internationally known bands Die Troglauer, Münchner Zwietracht and Die Draufgänger follow one another and alternate with traditional bands such as the Batzenhofen music club, the Gersthofen town band, the Schwäbische Musikanten, the Hirblingen traditional costume band, Gersthofer Schwob’n Deifi and others.
Culinary delicacies: A feast for the senses
A varied and entertaining program as well as Bavarian delicacies from the festival tent kitchen invite you to an entertaining visit. In addition to delicious roast pork, there will also be Kirchweih chicken and duck at the weekend. Snack fans will also get their money’s worth – there will be a Gersthofer snack board, freshly prepared aspic and vegetarian dishes.
Habo’s Festschänke at the Kirchweih Gersthofen has space in the central nave for over 1,100 guests, who can experience the program on the large stage up close. There are also seven cozy boxes available, each with space for 25 to 50 guests. For wine lovers, there is the rustic Weinstüberl, which has space for around 95 guests. A special highlight is the wheat beer carousel in the rear area of the tent – a real one-of-a-kind!
Fun for all ages: rides and attractions
The numerous fairground rides also promise pure fun. There is something for everyone to discover here – from the classic bumper car to the Bavaria Dance Hupferl to the large Columbia Ferris wheel, which offers breathtaking views. The little ones can enjoy the colourful children’s carousel, while anyone who wants to show off their skills can test their accuracy with can throwing, grappling or at the shooting range. If you’re looking for even more action, you can jump to lofty heights on the trampoline or take part in the 11-metre festival. And if you want to try your luck, there are great prizes waiting for you in the raffle.
Culinary diversity
Culinary delights are also provided: there are freshly baked crêpes and sweet Baumstriezel. No one has to miss out on the traditional Steckerl fish or a selection of sweets. Experience an unforgettable day full of joy and enjoyment at the Kirchweih Gersthofen 2024!
Theme days
Traditionally, various themed days are also offered. In addition to the day of the clubs and one of the companies, a children’s and family afternoon with reduced prices, a children’s scavenger hunt and great activities as well as an afternoon for seniors – there is also a traditional costume afternoon with the Gersthofen local and folk costume association, the Mason’s Monday and much more.
Note on the senior citizens’ afternoon on October 15th: All senior citizens over the age of 65 will receive two drinks (0.5 l) and a meal free of charge upon presentation of the original voucher from the brochure of the 2024 senior citizens’ program. The voucher can be exchanged from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. in Habo’s Festschänke at the Senior Citizens’ Advisory Board stand.

Kirchweih rally in the city center
Parallel to the church fair, a Gerschthofen Card church fair rally will take place in the city center from October 7th to 19th, 2024. Gingerbread hearts have been hidden in 23 shops that accept the Gerschthofen Card, and these have been creatively painted by the children of the children’s home and Conti at the balloon launch site and the Kolping daycare center. On each heart there is a solution word, which together form a solution sentence. The solution sentence can then be entered on a flyer. This is available at the participating companies and in the BSZ of the city of Gersthofen. The completed flyer should then be put in the town hall mailbox (Rathausplatz 1, 86368 Gersthofen) by October 20th, 2024 to take part in the competition. There are three Gerschthofen Cards to be won, each with a voucher value of 50 euros. The winners will be announced publicly on the last afternoon of the Kirchweih, Monday, October 21, 2024.
