Kirchstraße was only partially renovated

GONSENHEIM – It took a long time, but the project is now complete: the Kirchstraße along the Gonsenheim wildlife park has been renewed and converted in recent weeks. The local council praised the city for this. However, the question remains why the last hundred meters of the road in front of the deer enclosure were left out in the project, Mathias Huber (CDU) wonders. “The before and after situation can now be clearly seen. It would have been nice to completely rehabilitate the whole thing up to the end,” he said, adding: “But we have the opportunity to submit a new application for this area.”

The road traffic authority wants to implement another request from the local advisory board shortly, announced department head Janina Steinkrüger (Greens). Then, as requested by the local advisory board, only “parking in marked areas” should be allowed in the street Am Sportfeld between Kapellenstraße and Kirchstraße. In addition to the corresponding signs, additional parking markings are to be put in place – but only after the summer holidays. Before that, the road will play an important role during the track rehabilitation by the MVG, as the rail replacement buses drive through the road Am Sportfeld.

On the premises of the Housing Area, eleven houses with a total of 635 places are used for accommodating people, informed Dr. Eckart Lensch (SPD) the panel at the request of the CDU. Ukrainian refugees occupy two houses with 120 places, refugees from other countries eight buildings. In addition, a building with 60 places is available for homeless people who were exposed to a health risk during the hot phase of the corona pandemic. Mayor Sabine Flegel (CDU) reported massive complaints from residents of the housing area due to disturbance of the peace and also a great deal of parking pressure in the surrounding streets – because the residents parked their cars there and there were more and more residents with vehicles. “They should finally open the gate for residents’ vehicles in the evening,” demanded Wolfgang Oepen (FDP) for a solution to the parking problems.
