Despite high summer temperatures and major sporting events, this was possible Kinofest 2023 according to a Comscore analysis on Saturday and Sunday 932,000 visitors to the cinemas, building on last year’s success. Although it is 15 percent less than at the 2022 cinema festival – but given the (weather) circumstances and the fact that 2022 is again a very good cinema year overall, the result is impressive. The number of officially participating cinemas rose from 685 to 771.
Individual participating cinemas also have a very positive assessment, although the success can sometimes vary greatly from region to region. Overall, the cinema festival weekend is once again one of the most visited of the year and numerous films were able to increase visitor numbers. Although this mainly helps the mainstream area, it also shows the positive effect on the audience as a whole.
Given the numbers, it can be assumed that the cinema festival will not be held for the last time. The associations will certainly meet together soon and discuss the continuation.
