Warner Bros. is nailing it just before Christmas. The American film studio announced three release dates for new films, as reported by “Variety”. Among them is the prequel too “Mad Max: Fury Road” from 2015. The blockbuster “Furiosa” with Anya Taylor-Joy (24, “Split”) in the leading role is scheduled to open in cinemas on June 23, 2023.
“Furiosa” will once again be directed, written and produced by the Australian director George Miller (75), who was already responsible for the entire “Mad Max” series. In addition to Taylor-Joy, Chris Hemsworth (37, “Avengers: Endgame”) and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (34, “Watchmen”) can be seen in the strip, the plot of which is set before the one from “Mad Max: Fury Road”. Oscar winner Charlize Theron (45, “Monster”) played one of the leading roles as Imperator Furiosa in the 2015 adventure film.
Also in the cinema in 2023: family strip “Coyote vs. Acme” and musical film “The Color Purple”

In addition to “Furiosa”, Warner Bros. 2023 is also bringing the family film “Coyote vs. Acme” (July 21) and a musical version of the classic novel and film “The colour purple” (around December 20) in theaters. Musician and director Blitz Bazawule (38) has given the drama by Steven Spielberg (74) from 1985, which starred Whoopi Goldberg (65), Danny Glover (74) and Oprah Winfrey (66), a new musical look. Spielberg and Winfrey act as producers.
For the three films that have now been announced, Warner Bros. is apparently going back to the traditional theatrical release – unlike “Matrix 4”, “Dune” and “The Suicide Squad”, which will all start in 2021. In the coming year, due to the ongoing corona pandemic, they will be launched simultaneously in the cinema and at HBO Max, WarnerMedia’s in-house streaming service.
