The offer of the cinema platform “Kino Bize” streaming platform “Home cinema” has been supplemented with a selection of the Environmental Film Studio. These are six different documentaries that have received awards at prestigious film festivals and gained recognition from both film critics and viewers, the representatives of the cinema informed.
The Home Cinema platform currently offers more than 60 different films, as well as regular online events, reminded the representatives of Kino Bize. From March 15, the range of feature films and documentaries of “Home Cinema” will be joined by works created by the Environmental Film Studio – “Ukrainian Sheriffs” (2015), “A Tale of Empty Space” (2017), “Liberation Day” (2016), “Time Bridges” ”(2018),“ Wonderful Losers ”(2017) and“ Leap ”(2020).
The story “Ukrainian sheriffs” takes place in a remote Ukrainian village, where ducks are stolen, another is attacked by anaconda, and a man with an ax walks down the street. However, armed with shiny tokens and seized the zigzag, the local heroes Viktor and Volodya interfere with the next call. They faithfully do everything they can – dig graves, clean the chimney, settle disputes and even drink with their neighbors.
The documentary “A Tale of Empty Space” tells the story of the outstanding European set designer and teacher Andris Freibergs, who at the same time creates his own portrait as a stage set. But Liberation Day follows the cult cult group Laibach of the former Yugoslavia, which is heading to isolated North Korea to become the first foreign rock band to perform, surprising the whole world.
The home cinema offer will be complemented by “Bridges of Time” – a story about a unique phenomenon in the history of world cinema – Baltic poetic documentary cinema. In turn, the story of cycling knights “Wonderful losers” offers an insight into the world of athletes against the background of one of the world’s most important cycling competitions, where there are rules that are foreign to the rest of the world.
The team’s latest film “Leap” is the story of a Lithuanian Sima Kudrik, who jumped from a Soviet ship to an American ship in her desperate desire for freedom. But after seven hours in freedom, the Americans extradited the fugitive to the Soviet Union, causing outrage in the world’s media.
