Kino Bize offers to watch Ivars Zviedra films / Day online

Ivars Zviedris is a director, cameraman and producer of Latvian documentary cinema, whose research center has always been human, allowing to look into the lives of ordinary people or those whose everyday lives are hidden from the eyes of others or overlooked, but still present. Ivars Zviedris not only allows you to notice, but also to look more closely. The film’s characters are true and unadulterated. They “(..) live by the laws of the forest, do not pretend to be what they are not, and that is why they are living and interesting documentary heroes”, the portal Cinema Articles tells Ildze Terēze Felsberga.

There are nine films in the selection. In the director’s latest feature film Wearer the course of the border native Pepiņš, which is closely related to illegal immigration in Latvia, is being followed. Saws tells the story of Roman, who in spite of everything tries to be a successful logging entrepreneur, while in the film Low tide The daily rhythm of Valdis and his snails in Ireland depends on the low tide – as the sea recedes, snails can be picked.

In the movie Erik, come! we follow the course of the former day of sailor Erik. He lives in a tin hut without electricity at the Latvian-Estonian border. Small town allows you to learn more about the farthest northern city of Latvia and also the director’s own hometown – Rūjiena.

Selected about Riga in the film Residents viewers are introduced to Laura and Kārlis, who want to work in their medical profession, although they are aware that McDonald’s could earn more. A short story about Riga, where both poets reciting poetry and tram drivers meet, can be seen in the film Riga. IT IS is a collaboration of 12 directors, together creating a film about the mood of the people and the referendum on September 20, 2003, in which people had the opportunity to vote for or against joining the European Union.
