Cologne – The first three points have been Hamburger SV in the bag. Thanks to a double from Ransford Königsdörffer in the first half, HSV won the opening match of the 2. Bundesliga on Friday at 1. FC Köln with 2:1 (2:0).
The first half: Urbig looks old
The home team came out at full steam and had two big chances in the 3rd and 4th minutes. There was a lot going on in the game from the start. Then came the first attack from the Rothosen and Dompe shot from the edge of the penalty area. However, the ball slipped sideways from FC keeper Urbig and Ransford Koenigsdörffer (6.), who scored. 1:0 for the HSVwow! Cologne was unimpressed and continued to storm forward. The opposition already had counter-attack opportunities. Dompe (16th/18th) failed both times. And the Frenchman again, who was stopped by Urbig (27th). On the other side, Ljubicic (34th) missed the equaliser by just a few centimetres. But the ball rang again at the back and again it was Ransford Königsdörffer (35th) whose header hit the crossbar, but the 22-year-old put the rebound into the net to make it 2-0. Shortly before half-time, HSV goalkeeper Heuer Fernandez made a sensational save against Lemperle with his knee from close range.
After the break: Maina to connect
In the second half, the ball only went in one direction – towards Hamburg’s goal. However, there were no really big opportunities. Until the 78th minute, when Cologne scored through Linton Maina with a header. The final minutes were again tough. FC wanted to equalize, but the HSV defense held firm. Six minutes of stoppage time turned into nine and there were no goals. Even though Selke was still there for the visitors. The Bundesliga relegated team had almost 60 percent possession and 28:10 shots on goal. The three points went to the north, however.
