He continued: “The vaccine for the elderly has been approved so far in the European Union, Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom and Japan.”
He added: “This virus is the first cause of hospitalization in the first year of life, and a major cause of lung infections and related deaths in the elderly, and it is expected that the vaccine will make a great difference – God willing – in the disease burden of this stubborn virus.”
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will be the fifth country, God willing, to include and use the RSV vaccine for those aged 65 years and older, followed by the approval of another vaccine designed to protect children in the first 6 months of life.
