Kingdom Come will receive semi-professional dubbing »Vortex

The absence of Czech dubbing in Kingdom Come was often criticized for the game, and many fans are still unable to accept it. It is no wonder, then, that since the release, there have been a number of attempts to offer mother tongue to players in the Czech Crown. However, most of the projects did not last long, or they were just excerpts from the game or a trailer. Now, however, everything may be different thanks to the initiative of two semi-professional teams.

The creators of Megarana Studios and Pilger Film, unlike their predecessors, stay grounded and decided to “only” film the film sequences, which make up only a fraction of the total approximately 70 hours of audio in the entire game. Nevertheless, it is a very challenging task and the road to the final implementation into the game can still be very long. Players who would like to enjoy Czech directly in the game, we must point out that the current goal is to first curse the cutscenes into a film that would be placed on YouTube for viewing. However, as the authors of the project themselves told us, it is possible that dubbing could eventually get into the game, which they definitely do not oppose and want to try.

The author of this project is Artur Komňacký, whose work can also be found under the nickname Megarana. He is behind the direction and realization of the whole work, he himself still dubs the character of Jan Ptáček. He told Vortex that despite sending various creators, professional and amateur actors and dubbers, he finally put together a semi-professional twenty-member cast, half of which is intended for the main characters and the other for the supporting ones. The co-author is Marek Pilger, who mainly provides the audio page. Komňacký further explained that although part of the recording takes place at a distance and not all participants have the same conditions and background, he still pays great attention to the overall quality of the result.

The dubbing itself then takes place in the usual way – it is not dubbed according to individual soundtracks, as is often the case with games, but directly to the original wording within the finished cutscene. After all, this procedure fully corresponds to the film form, which it primarily seeks. The central role of Jindřich ze Skalice was played by a young dabber Richard Wágner, who, in addition to classic dubbing, for example for Netflix, also has experience directly with game dubbing. We could recently hear his voice in the remake of Mafia during the shootouts and we also have an exclusive sample of his work on Kingdom Come.

Although in its essence it is still an amateur, maximally semi-professional act, the creators have big plans with it. Therefore, they did not hesitate to contact Warhorse himself directly in order to sanctify their enthusiastic efforts and decide to release the prepared demonstration to the public. The response didn’t take long. Most people appreciate the origin of dubbing even in this abbreviated form, but for some a mere film is not enough.

Of course, there are also criticisms, which are mainly related to differences in sound or acting and other aspects of amateur work, but the show otherwise left a positive impression. In the late evening, the video even reached Dan Vávra, who subsequently shared it on his Facebook, so it is possible that the creators may receive some coveted cooperation or at least a little help from the developers. However, the question is whether perhaps there could be an official incorporation directly into the game, as many players wish. There is no doubt that this project is well under way, it should be about half done, so we can only wait for the creators to continue with it.
