According to Viktor Bocan, the game’s developer, this sequel is “better, better, and more believable” than its predecessor. “We have prepared the world for the players to such detail that they will experience their own adventures there. I played it more than a thousand times and finished about once,” Bocan revealed in an interview with Spotlight Aktualne.cz.
A World of Unprecedented Detail
One of the standout features of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is its unusual attention to detail. bocan emphasized that the game’s playtime varies significantly depending on how much players choose to explore. “Some spent 30 to 40 hours in the game, others 100 to 200, and they still haven’t finished,” he shared. This level of depth is especially evident in the meticulously designed medieval town of Kutná Hora. “It was absolutely horrible, I don’t know what we thoght about, but it did. Maybe it’s not the biggest city in the video game, but certainly the moast detailed that ever originated,” Bocan remarked.
Enhanced Combat and Historical Authenticity
Bocan, who oversees the game’s combat design, highlighted meaningful improvements in this area. “this time we added firearms, but rather to prove how much they were at that time. We also improved the duel from the horse’s back, which are so authentic that you will understand that even then it was not possible to hit anything from the horse saddle,” he explained.These enhancements aim to provide players with a more immersive and historically accurate experience.
A Journey Through the Middle Ages
The game’s setting in the Middle Ages was a deliberate choice by the developers.Bocan and his team at Warhorse Studios went to great lengths to ensure historical accuracy, even consulting with historians and recreating historical activities. “Could he survive in the Middle Ages?” Bocan mused, reflecting on the challenges of bringing authenticity to the game.
