The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia recently announced news that carries a lot of good news for citizens. This good news came from the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, may God protect him, who issued a royal order to restore the cost of living allowance, in order to meet the needs of citizens who suffer from high prices in light of the global economic crisis.
What distinguishes this royal order is that it is not limited to a specific category of citizens, but rather includes many diverse categories of military, civilians, and retirees, in addition to male and female students and beneficiaries of social insurance.
The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, ordered the payment of a monthly cost-of-living allowance of 1,500 riyals for the military and civilians, while the allowance for retirees amounts to 700 riyals. It was also announced that the male and female students will be rewarded with an increase of 15%. It is noteworthy that this support does not conflict with the monthly support for the citizen’s account, as part of the efforts undertaken by the state to ease the burdens of life on citizens with limited income.
Conditions required to receive the allowance
As with all support schemes, there are a set of conditions that must be met in order to receive a cost-of-living allowance. These conditions include:
Saudi nationality. The monthly income of the unmarried applicant should not exceed 3000 riyals, and in the case of married persons, the monthly income should not exceed 8000 riyals. The age of the applicant should be 35 years or more.
