Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The government of Saudi Arabia imposed a ban for its citizens to visit Indonesia. This is due to the Covid-19 case.
In an official statement from the Saudi Directorate General of Passports (Jawazat), Saturday (21/5/2022), Indonesia was included in the ban along with 15 other countries.
“Citizens of Saudi Arabia are prohibited from traveling to 16 countries due to Covid-19 cases in these countries,” said Jawazat, quoted from Saudi GazetteMonday (23/5/2022)
“The list of countries includes Lebanon, Syria, Turkey, Iran, Afghanistan, India, Yemen, Somalia, Ethiopia, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Libya, Indonesia, Vietnam, Armenia, Belarus and Venezuela.”
Even so, Saudi Arabia has so far only imposed a travel ban to Indonesia for its citizens. There is no further information whether this decision will have an impact on the departure of Indonesian pilgrims this year.
However, Saudi Arabia itself has issued a number of requirements that must be met by pilgrims. For example, regarding the age limit for prospective pilgrims, the maximum age is 65 years.
In addition, pilgrims are also required to get a minimum of the second dose of the Covid-19 vaccine which is recognized by the Ministry of Health of Saudi Arabia. They are also required to have a negative PCR test result with a sample taken within 72 hours before departure.
