King of Snapchat trial begins, influencer sued for child pornography

Dylan Demers, known as the “King of Snapchat”, currently faces several charges relating to the production and sharing of child pornography. He is also being prosecuted for computer lure.

According to reports, the victims who filed complaints against the 23-year-old were between 13 and 17 years old when the inappropriate acts were committed. Demers was not alone either at the time of the facts but had as an accomplice Carlos Desjardins who is also an influencer.

If Desjardins has pleaded guilty to 15 charges, Demers has denied everything. Desjardins was sentenced to four and a half years in prison, as for Demers, he is currently in full trial.

The accusations follow each other

Karine Boivin was the first witness called to the bar during the Demers trial. She is a policewoman working in the school environment. She was the one who initiated the prosecution after a student told her that a video of her with a sexual connotation was shared on the web. Indeed, among the videos presented as evidence in court, we could see a young girl in the shower. Another video clearly shows Carlos Desjardins licking champagne poured by Dylan Demers on the buttocks of the victim. The film was recorded by Demers himself.

In total, ten videos and 17 photos were presented to Judge Sandra Rioux during the trial.

Another young girl also filed a complaint against Demers. The teenager would have met him during a party in a house located in the Upper Town of Quebec. She said she found a young girl unconscious when she arrived at the party. To help her, she went to get a towel with cold water in the kitchen. This is where Demers arrived and put his hand on his hip, offering him a “threesome” with Desjardins. After refusing, the complainant went to place the towel on the unconscious girl’s forehead and then left.

Another damning evidence

The party victim said the story didn’t end there as Demers attempted to contact her on Snapchat again after they met. However, the accused’s first message was rather unusual as he sent him the image of his penis.

Currently, four people have filed a complaint against the King of Snapchat. In addition to their testimony, that of Carlos Desjardins will also be heard during the trial which will last two weeks.

Demers also intends to testify in his defense. According to Richard-Philippe Guay, the defense lawyer, his client said he did not accept that the videos and photos in question could constitute child pornography and that their publication on social networks could come from certain malicious competitors.
