King of Jordan Orders Field Hospital in Gaza Strip to Remain Operational Despite Damage

The King of Jordan, Abdullah II, directed on Sunday to keep the field hospital in the Gaza Strip, despite it being out of service and being damaged as a result of the Israeli bombing.

The National Center for Security and Crisis Management in Amman said that Abdullah II directed that the field hospital remain in Gaza, provided that it continues to provide its services to the residents of the Strip.

In the same context, Jordanian Prime Minister Bisher Al-Khasawneh stated that “the Jordanian field hospital in Gaza will remain and will continue to provide its services.”

The official Jordanian news agency, Petra, quoted him as saying, “The field hospital in Gaza will remain standing and bear witness to the Jordanian commitment to our brothers.”

On Saturday, Jordanian media reported that the field hospital in the Gaza Strip was out of service as a result of the intense Israeli bombing that hit it and the surrounding areas.

Before this bombing, the hospital was suffering from difficult conditions, such that it was no longer able to provide its services due to a lack of supplies, according to Jordanian media.

Jordan had established a field military hospital in Gaza in 2009, shortly after the first war launched on the Strip.

This development comes in light of the difficult situation facing hospitals in the Gaza Strip.

The United Nations says that the health system in the Gaza Strip is on the verge of collapse, and that time is running out to prevent a humanitarian catastrophe.
