King Morocco warns against new, strict lockdown

The Moroccan King Mohammed VI has called on the population to better adhere to the corona measures. If that does not happen, there will be another strict lockdown in the country, he told the Moroccans.

The relaxation of measures in Morocco has led to a rapidly increasing number of infections in the country. More than 1000 cases are added every day and that is too much for the Moroccan healthcare system. From March to July there was a very strict lockdown whereby no one was allowed in or out of the country and people were not allowed out, including children.

“Some have seen the lifting of the restrictions as the end of the pandemic,” the king said in a speech on the occasion of a national holiday. “Others have shown unacceptable carelessness and laxity. Some even deny that there is a pandemic.”

A large part of the population, he said, disregards the rules, such as wearing a mouth mask, keeping their distance and using disinfectants:
