King Mohammed VI launches “Ramadan 1444” for the benefit of 5 million people

King Mohammed VI, accompanied by Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan, on Friday March 24th in Sidi Moussa in the province of Mreissa in Sale, oversaw the launch of the national operation “Ramadan 1444”, organized by the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity on the occasion of the blessed month of Ramadan, from which this year 5 benefited. millions of people.

And in implementation of the royal instructions, the “Ramadan 1444” operation, for which a financial cover of 390 million dirhams was allocated, is characterized by increasing the number of beneficiaries of food support from 600 thousand families in the previous edition to 1 million families, distributed over 83 provinces and prefectures in the Kingdom, where 77 percent live. Of these beneficiary families in rural areas.

On the occasion of the 24th edition of this process, the King also gave instructions to enhance the content of the basket with additional foodstuffs, especially rice and milk.

This operation, organized with financial support from the Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, has become an important annual event aimed at providing assistance and support to the most vulnerable social groups, especially widows, elderly people and people with special needs.

In order to ensure the smooth running of this process, thousands of people, supported by social assistants and volunteers, have been mobilized at the distribution points that have been approved at the national level, and they will ensure that the food aid is delivered to the heads and representatives of the beneficiary families.

The implementation of this initiative is subject to monitoring, especially at the level of two committees, one local and the other regional, who watch on the ground to monitor the supply of distribution centers, identify beneficiaries, and distribute foodstuffs. The identification of the beneficiaries as a whole year is subject to field work carried out by the local authorities, which enables the assessment of the living conditions of these people and their current situation on the basis of socio-economic criteria.

The Social Services of the Royal Armed Forces, National Cooperation, National Revival and Local Authorities provide assistance to the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity in order to ensure the proper functioning of this solidarity process. For their part, the Ministry of Health and Social Protection and the National Office for Health Safety of Food Products monitor the quality of distributed food products.

On this occasion, the King symbolically handed a parcel of food to 10 heads or representatives of families benefiting from the “Ramadan 1444” operation, before a souvenir photo was taken of him with volunteers participating in this solidarity process.
