The evacuation plane landed at Langkawi in Malaysia at approximately 06.36 this morning.

The flight, SAS 7185, took off from Gardermoen at 16 Thursday and intermediate in Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates to refuel.

There is probably double crew on board, so that the plane can quickly return to Norway.

The castle will not comment on the matter on Thursday evening and refers to the Norwegian Armed Forces. We have not been able to get through on the phone to the royal house on Friday morning.

It is on the holiday island of Langkawi that King Harald is in a local hospital, after he fell ill with an infection. The king was on holiday when he fell ill.

It is not known how long King Harald has been in Malaysia, but there is reason to believe that he traveled there before his 87th birthday on 21 February.

On Tuesday evening, the royal house issued a press release in which they confirmed that the king had been admitted to hospital with an infection.

The following day, the royal house confirmed that the king’s physician, Bjørn Bendz, was in place at Lankawi. He noted that the king was recovering and was still being treated at the hospital.

Can leave in a few days

Earlier on Thursday, the royal house announced that the king “can fly home in a few days”. The government arranges the transport, and the Norwegian Armed Forces are responsible for the practical arrangements.

SAS’s Boeing 737-700 aircraft was converted into a medevac aircraft (hospital aircraft) in June 2022. It was in connection with Norway starting the evacuation of wounded Ukrainian soldiers to Norway.

The plane is basically an ordinary passenger plane of the type Boeing 737-700, which is converted within 24 hours to transport patients in hospital beds and on stretchers.

– Must ensure efficient and safe transport

The defense says on Thursday evening that they have no further information beyond the content of the press release they sent out earlier on Thursday.

There they confirmed that in the coming days the Norwegian Armed Forces will support with air transport to ensure efficient and safe transport for the king.
