In the recent book “The King: The Life of Charles III”, readers get to know the new British king very well. The book not only deals with Charles’ life as a crown prince, but also delves into the king as a person.
It is the real author Christopher Andersen who is behind the book, and he claims it Kong Charles had an ever so little long distance crush.
This was Prince Philip’s unknown friend
It’s certainly not unusual for people to be fascinated by actors and artists — most people have probably had crushes on celebrities. King Charles is no exception. He’s reportedly been shot by superstar Barbra Streisandrelationships Fox News.
He had a photo of Barbara
According to Andersen, the king was so fascinated by the Hollywood actor that he had a photo of him in his room at Buckingham Palace for a long time.
– Barbra Streisand is my only pinup!, King Charles is said to have said.
The innocent infatuation is said to have started while the king was studying at Cambridge University in the 1960s. While his friends listened to the Rolling Stones and Led Zeppelin, King Charles listened to records by Barbra Streisand.
His film ‘Funny Girl’ is said to have been a favorite of the king.
It made the king gasp
“He’s seen it three times. A framed photo of Streisand hung in his room in Cambridge and ended up on the wall of his bedroom at Buckingham Palace after graduation,” Andersen writes.
Encountered
For most people who are fascinated by celebrities, it comes down to their imagination. But King Charles managed to meet the woman he had been fascinated by. He met Streisand while filming ‘Funny Lady’, the sequel to ‘Funny Girl’.
They met again in 1994 when Streisand sang at a gala concert at Wembley in London. Then he sang a song dedicated to the then prince-“One day my prince will come”.
Forbid delicacy
Six months later they met again, this time in Los Angeles. King Charles was on a royal visit and took time out for a cuppa with the singing star.
