King Charles Opens Up About Cancer Diagnosis During Meeting with Prime Minister – Emotional Response to Supportive Messages

British Monarch, King Charles, said during a meeting with Prime Minister Rishi Sunak on Wednesday that the messages of support he received after being diagnosed with cancer made him cry.

Buckingham Palace announced earlier this February that King Charles (75 years old) had been diagnosed with a type of cancer. The King assumed the throne of the country less than 18 months ago following the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth.

King Charles said during his weekly meeting with Sunak: “I received so many wonderful letters and cards… most of the time they made me cry.”

“Everyone supports you,” Sunak responded.

The King holds a weekly closed meeting with the Prime Minister, but cameras are sometimes allowed to film the beginning of the meeting.

Wednesday’s meeting is the king’s first direct official meeting with Sunak since it was revealed that he was suffering from an unspecified type of cancer.

Buckingham Palace said that the king will continue to carry out official and paperwork duties while undergoing treatment for cancer.

Sunak began his meeting with the King by saying that it was great to see him looking so good.

“It’s an optical illusion,” Charles joked.
