In less than a week, the British monarch, King Charles (73), will receive royalty from all over Europe to witness his official coronation. He officially became king when his mother, Queen Elizabeth, passed away in September 2022.
Tried to stop the son
Shortly before “everyone’s” eyes are on the grand celebration, the BBC has released a documentary about the king. «Charles R: The Making of a Monarch» shows previously unseen photos and video clips, as well as a more personal picture of who the head of state really is.
He states, among other things, that he has never been good at being a kind of “executive monkey” for the media, and that he is a far more private person.
About risk
Speaking about the time as a prince, it appears that King Charles never wanted to be a person who made safe choices. In particular, he mentions his work with the Prince’s Trust Charity, which he founded in 1976, dedicated to helping young people.

– I always said that I wanted the opportunity to take risks, so if it didn’t work, it didn’t work. But it was worth it to try what is most difficult, and those who are the toughest to reach, he says of the charity work.
Do not abuse the position
He also speaks about the publicity he received when he was younger. The then Prince Charles was portrayed as an old-fashioned man, he claims. Someone who didn’t care about the environment and nature, and didn’t believe in science.
– That is so far from the truth. What drove me was a truth, an undeniable law. If we ignore nature, everything will collapse, he says, referring to when he first spoke publicly about the environmental crisis, as early as 1970.
Against Harry’s accusations
He also denies that he has used his position to get what he wants.
– Although I can never forget who I am, I have never for a second felt that I should use who I am to get what I want, or order someone to do anything.
