“King Charles III’s Coronation Celebrated in Portadown Amid Cross-Community Unity”

Amidst the shadow of Drumcree church in Portadown, the Tír na nÓg under-six Gaelic football team celebrated their player-of-the-week awards as King Charles III was crowned. Club secretary Elaine McKeown expressed her respect for the values of the monarchy, but noted that nobody in the community was overly concerned with the coronation, as it doesn’t affect them. Portadown was known for its sectarian clashes in the 1990s, but events such as the street party at Ballynacor Meadows unite both nationalist and unionist communities. The town has seen a lot of positive change over the years, as it moves towards greater collaboration between different groups.
