Buckingham Palace announced on Wednesday that King Charles III is being treated for an enlarged prostate and will undergo a therapeutic intervention next week.
A palace statement said: “Like thousands of men every year, the king receives treatment for prostate enlargement.”
He added, “The King of Britain’s condition is benign and he will be admitted to the hospital next week for a corrective operation.”
The statement added that the 75-year-old king’s obligations will be postponed “for a short period to recover.”
Charles was officially crowned on May 6, 8 months after he ascended the throne following the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, on September 8, 2022.
