Director Ridley Scott, “Game of Thrones” actress Emilia Clarke, and singer Shirley Bassey were among 1,227 people honored yesterday by King Charles III, on the occasion of the New Year, for their success or service to the United Kingdom.
A few weeks after the release of his latest film, “Napoleon,” Ridley Scott, known for directing many famous films, including “Gladiator,” “Alien,” and “Thelma and Louise,” was promoted to the rank of Knight Grand Cross of the British Empire.
As for the Welsh singer Shirley Bassey, who previously won a Medal of Honor and is known in particular for performing three songs for the James Bond films, she received the title of Companion of Honour, a highly valuable award that Bassey has become the 64th living person to receive, for her entire musical career.
