During treatment at the private London Clinic hospital, tests on 75-year-old Charles revealed another form of cancer, Buckingham Palace said in a press release. “His Majesty has chosen to share his diagnosis to avoid speculation and in the hope that it can contribute to public understanding of everyone around the world affected by cancer,” the statement added. No further details were released about the diagnosis.
Buckingham Palace also said the monarch is “very optimistic” about his treatment and looks forward to making public appearances again. Other members of the royal family are expected to take on that role during Charles’ treatment.
According to the British public broadcaster, Prince Harry has already spoken to his father about the news and will return to the United Kingdom “one of the coming days.”
