The royal couple traveled separately for a while. Charles III, in fact, left from Heathrow, while his wife joined him during a stopover in Singapore. Camilla, in fact, usually manages the jet lag of long-haul flights by leaving early: once she arrives, she takes refuge in a retreat to dedicate herself to wellness treatments and get into the rhythm of the destination.

They were welcomed in Sydney by pouring rain, which however failed to dampen the sovereign’s smiles. For Charles III, in fact, this is the first official trip to a Commonwealth country since he ascended the throne, and to deal with it as best as possible he also temporarily suspended treatment for the cancer which he was diagnosed with at the beginning of the year.

Charles III and Camilla will remain in Australia for five days, where around eleven daily commitments await them starting from Sunday. After the long journey, in fact, a day of rest was planned for the couple. The program has not been revealed in full, but it is certain that the king will be in the capital Canberra, where he will speak before the assembled Parliament. The royal couple will then move to Samoa, where another important commitment awaits the king, the Commonwealth Heads of Government meeting (CHOGM) which is held every two years and will be from October 21st to 26th. For Charles III it is another debut, which he absolutely did not want to miss. The doctors, moreover, have given him the green light: for a few days he will be free not to think too much about the disease. He will resume treatment when he returns to London.
