King Charles he left for Australia, one of the most complicated journeys of his life and the first as King in that country. But when he left the Palace, Camilla was not with him. The two travel separately.
King Charles has left for Australia
On the morning of October 17th Carlo was spotted heading toHeathrow airport to catch a scheduled flight that begins his journey to Australia. The King particularly cares about this state visit due to the high symbolic value it has. And despite the many obstacles, he didn’t want to give up. In fact, in addition to cancer, Carlo has had to face the hostility of six Australian prime ministers who will not participate in the gala with him and the accusations made by the premier of Queensland for an incident that occurred in 2018.
Regardless of the protests, the Sovereign stuck to his travel plan. Was accompanied to Heathrow with a convoy of vehicles. Carlo was hosted at the airport in the Windsor Suite, waiting for his flight.
The King’s staff were spotted taking three suitcases from the trunk of the car. But it is known that Carlo’s baggage is much more substantial for him 8 days stay in Australia. Also because there are many events he will have to attend.
Camilla didn’t leave: she took a break
Camilla was not with him. In fact, the Queen takes another plane. The couple therefore travels separately but this is not a safety reason. In fact, usually the rule of taking two different devices only applies to heirs to the throne. So, for example, George will no longer be able to travel with his father William, but the latter will continue to do so with Kate Middleton.
Camilla was not with Carlo at the time of departure, because she was taken a moment’s pause. The Queen consort does not like taking planes, especially if they are long flights, as in this case. Furthermore, he fears that he will get very tired during this tour. So, he decided to take a break before the tour de force. Thus, following an itinerary shared with the Palace, she joins her husband in Singapore.
There, they board the same plane that takes them to Sydney. The arrival is scheduled for late today, Friday 18 October and there they will be received with a welcome cocktail.
On Saturday Carlo and Camilla will take a day of rest and on Sunday they will start the actual tour it involves 36 commitments in total. After Sydney Their Majesties will move to Canberra next week and there the King will give a speech at the opening of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting.
The arrival in Sydney
After a separate departure, King Charles and Queen Camilla have completed the last leg of their journey together. They arrived in Sydney late in the evening (early Italian afternoon), for what is a very important official commitment. In fact, a British monarch has not set foot on Australian soil for more than ten years.
The lights were lit for their arrival iconic sails of the Sydney Opera Houseadorned with images of previous royal visits. A very heartfelt welcome, marked by the presence of Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, as well as the Premier of the State of New South Wales, Chris Minns, and the King’s representative in Australia, Governor General Sam Mostyln.
