A special message from the King and Queen Consort is being played at every railway station in the UK and all London Underground stations to mark the coronation weekend. The recorded announcement reminds passengers to “mind the gap”, an iconic phrase popularised by London’s Underground system. Transport for London’s audio team recorded the message at Highgrove earlier this year and passengers can hear it between Friday and Monday. The Rail Delivery Group’s chief executive Jacqueline Starr said it is a rare and exciting event that welcomes passengers to the historic moment. Network Rail’s CEO Andrew Haines added that it is fantastic to be welcomed by King Charles III and Queen Camilla. With less than one day to go before the coronation, London’s Transport Commissioner Andy Lord invites visitors from across the globe to celebrate.
