KOMPAS.com– S, a kindergarten teacher in Poor, East Java, entangled in an online loan (pinjol) up to around IDR 40 million in 24 applications.
S had the intention of committing suicide as a result of being terrorized by debt collectors from the loan application. S was caught in a number of online loan applications because in order to pay for a previous loan, he was forced to borrow in another online application.
Until finally S borrowed 24 online loans with a value of around Rp. 40 million.
“The beginning of the story I borrowed online was because of the need to pay tuition fees at a university in Malang, amounting to Rp. 2,500,000 because indeed from the demands of the institution where I teach, I must have an S1 diploma,” he said in a written statement received. Kompas.com, Monday (17/5/2021) night.
S’s attorney from Law Office 99 and Partners, Slamet Yuono said, this case stems from S’s ignorance of online loans.
Because, many online loans are illegal which in practice are detrimental to the borrowing party.
“He does not know that there are legal online loans, some are illegal. He does not know. Anyway, when you see on your cellphone there is an online loan application, it can be downloaded and they say the conditions are easy. There is a KTP, selfie photo, bank account, immediately disbursed , “he said when contacted by telephone, Monday (17/5/2021) night.
After being traced, many of the online loan applications used by S turned out to be illegal. Slamet said, of the 24 online loan applications used by S, 19 were illegal online loans. Only five applications are legal and registered with the Financial Services Authority (OJK).
“Of the 24 pinjol (online loans), let’s see, it turns out that there are five legal and 19 illegal ones,” he said.
These 19 illegal online loan applications whose billing model disturbs S’s psychology, causes suicidal thoughts to occur.
In contrast to the legal online loan collection model which is still within reasonable limits.
“Of the five legal ones, say that the billing is still standard, not too hurtful or scary. But from 19 illegal pinjol This is what bills him with painful languages, even to his life, “he explained.
Want to kill yourself
S was at its lowest point and had the intention of committing suicide after being terrorized by a number of debt collectors around November 2020. S was then again optimistic about facing his case after receiving support from people around him and getting legal assistance.
“That (had wanted to commit suicide) around November 2020 before my contact,” said Slamet Yuono.
His party has sent a letter to the Investment Alert Task Force related to the case. His party will return to send a letter to ask about the progress of the case.
“We sent a letter to the Investment Alert Task Force, the office is here at the central OJK. The victim made the report, a copy to the Chairman of the OJK and the Chief of Police that this is true. Next week we will send another letter to the Task Force. the first, “he explained.
Fired as a teacher
Meanwhile, S was fired as a teacher since November 5, 2020 due to this case.
First, S told his friend, a fellow teacher, with the intention that if there was a debt collector who called, he would be ignored.
However, the school who knew about the case decided to fire S.
“He told his teacher friend at the kindergarten that if there was a debt collector to call, he would be allowed to contact. Finally, the school knew, the foundation knew and was called, fired. So he did not get protection from his place of work as a teacher, but he was fired immediately,” he said.
Slamet Yuono admitted to handling this case pro bono, or free of charge as a lesson for providers of illegal online loan applications. In addition, S who became the victim was the teacher of her child while attending the kindergarten where S taught.
There has been no information from the foundation which oversees the kindergarten regarding S.
