Chinese media reported, Friday, that a kindergarten teacher was executed in central China this week, after she killed a child and injured 24 others by poisoning their food with sodium nitrate four years ago.
Wang Yun, 39, appealed the ruling issued by a court in Henan Province in September 2020, but to no avail.
The media quoted the court’s statement as saying that the judiciary verified Wang’s identity on Thursday and accompanied her to the execution ground, where the sentence was carried out.
In March 2019, Wang bought a quantity of sodium nitrate after a dispute with one of her colleagues.
The text of the court ruling stated that the next morning, Wang put sodium nitrate in the baby food, according to the media.
A child died in January 2020 as a result of the failure of the functions of a number of his organs as a result of the poison. Media reported that 24 other children had mild symptoms.
Wang’s case is one of several high-profile cases of murder and violence in kindergartens that China has seen in the past few years.
A 25-year-old man is suspected of attacking a kindergarten in Guangdong Province on Monday, killing six and injuring one, which has raised serious concerns about violence against children in schools.
