Jakarta – Kimberly Ryder wants her husband, Edward Akbar, to be responsible for his children. It also does not want to set a specified salary that must be provided.
“I don’t need anything for myself, so the important thing is to be responsible for the children,” said Kimberly Ryder when she met at PA Central Jakarta, Thursday (8/8/2024).
Kimberly’s lawyer, Machi Ahmad, confirmed his client’s statement. He said Kimberly had no intention of burdening Edward with heavy maintenance demands.
In the lawsuit, Kimberly only asked Rp 5 thousand for all types of alimony, including mut’ah, iddah, madhiyah, kiswah, and masks.
“My client only asked for Rp. 1 thousand for each of these living expenses. The total amount is only Rp. 5 thousand. We do not want to make things difficult for the defendant ,” said Machi Ahmad.
Kimberly filed for divorce at the Jakarta Central Religious Court on July 12, 2024, after being married to Edward for more than five years.
In the trial, he did not make any demands regarding his property, only asking for custody of their two children.
Kimberly’s divorce case was filed with number 916/Pdt.G/2024/PAJP through e-court. On 7 August 2024, they went through a mediation test which, according to Edward, was difficult. Despite this, Edward made sure that this process was not a major obstacle.
“Mediation is not a big deal, it’s just a process. I wish everything goes well. That’s all from me,” said Edward Akbar.
Kimberly Ryder didn’t just file for divorce. Several weeks before she filed for divorce at the Jakarta Central Religious Court, she reported Edward Akbar and someone with the initials NL to the South Jakarta Police on suspicion of car theft.
The police report regarding the car allegations was filed on June 29, 2024. Now this case begins to enter a new phase with the record for examining witnesses, the among Edward Akbar.
The exam was previously scheduled for Monday (5/8/2024). However, the Night Bus actor was unable to attend due to health issues. His lawyer, Jundri R. Berutu, who represented Edward Akbar, came to the South Jakarta Metro Police to inform him about the condition of his client.
“Our client was unable to attend today due to his ill health and is currently focused on preparing for a divorce trial in Central Jakarta PA, Wednesday 7 August 2024, “Edward Akbar’s lawyer, Jundri R. Berutu, told reporters.
Jundri R. Berutu also gave some defense regarding that car. He named the BMW car that Kimberly Ryder accused Edward Akbar of having entered into as joint ownership.
