Kim Tae-gwan was selected by the South Chungcheong Province Office as the first pick in the first round in the Shinhan Solpay 2024-2025 Handball H-League rookie draft held at the Seoul Olympic Park Handball Stadium on the 23rd.

Kim Tae-gwan, in the right back position, played an active part as a representative of the under-16 (U-16) team in 2017, the under-18 (U-18) representative in 2020, and the under-20 (U-20) representative in 2022.

Kim Tae-gwan, who was nominated first, expressed his gratitude to the officials of the South Chungcheong Provincial Office and the leaders who had raised him, and expressed his bold ambition, saying, “I had expected to be nominated first,” and “I will do my best to receive the rookie award.”

In second place, Cha Hye-seong (Kyung Hee University), who played for the U-18 and U-20 national teams, wore the Hanam City Hall uniform.

Incheon Urban Development Corporation nominated Park Joo-ni (Korea National Sport University), SK Hawks nominated Byun Seo-jun (Kyung Hee University), and Doosan nominated Kim Do-won (Wonkwang University).

In the women’s rookie draft that followed, tall right back Jeong Ji-in (formerly Japan Omron) was selected first overall and wore the uniform of Daegu Metropolitan City Hall.

Boasting a tall height of 180cm, he expressed his thoughts on being nominated, saying, “I will become the most needed and helpful player on the team and become one of the best 7. I will do my best to help the team win the championship.”

In second place overall, Koo Hyeon-ji (Daegu Physical Education High School) was selected by Incheon Metropolitan City Hall. Koo Hyeon-ji, who has been playing as a U-18 national team player since 2023, prayed for Incheon Metropolitan City Hall to win.

Next, SK Sugar Gliders selected Shin Chae-hyun (Hwangji Information Industrial High School) and Hong Ye-ji (Hwigyeong Girls’ High School), Incheon Metropolitan City Hall selected Lim Gwang-seon (Cho Dae Girls’ High School) and Park Seo-hee (Daegu Physical Education High School), and Gwangju City Corporation selected Kim Ji-seon (Ilshin Girls’ High School) and Jo Yeon-seo ( Incheon Business High School), Seoul City Hall selected Jo Su-yeon (Daegu Physical Education High School) and Jeong Ga-eun (Korea National Sport University), Samcheok City Hall selected Choi Eun-hye (Uijeongbu Girls’ High School) and Hwang Da-som (Hwangji Information Industry High School), and Gyeongnam Development Corporation selected Lim So-ui (Gyeongnam Physical Education High School). Daegu Metropolitan City Hall selected Jo Seo-yeon (Daejeon High School).

The Busan Facilities Corporation nominated only Ko Hyun-seo.

In the women’s draft, where a total of 29 people applied, 20 players, or 68.9%, were selected.

The men’s handball H-League games for the new season, in which the newly appointed players will join, are scheduled to begin on November 10, and the women’s games are scheduled to begin on January 1 of next year.
