Kim Shin-young and Park Chan-wook won Best Director Award at ‘Blue Dragon Film Awards’ “The person who stood as a shield against people’s prejudices”

Comedian Kim Shin-young received the best director award for Park Chan-wook.

The 43rd Blue Dragon Film Awards was held at KBS Hall in Yeouido, Seoul at 20:30 on November 25th.

On this day, the Blue Dragon Film Award for Best Director went to director Park Chan-wook, who directed the film ‘Decision to Break Up’. ‘Decision to Break Up’ is a film released on June 29 starring actors Park Hae-il, Tang Wei, Lee Jung-hyun, Kim Shin-young, Park Yong-woo and Go Kyung-pyo.

Kim Shin-young, who took the stage instead of Park Chan-wook, said, “Honestly, just being here is like a dream. The hardest and scariest thing in life is to fight against bias and prejudice. I also think that will comedians make him laugh at movies?I did it first, but director Park Chan-wook, who broke prejudices in front of me and stood in front of me as a shield against people’s prejudices, said : “I hope Shin-young wins the award instead”, so I have to go on stage”.

Then, he read a postcard containing director Park Chan-wook’s acceptance speech. In a letter, director Park Chan-wook said, “I’m sorry I couldn’t go because I was shooting in Los Angeles. I was able to meet Kim Shin-young. I like being able to meet talented people in various fields while directing a film I met the staff. I want to share this honor with them. I want to buy you a drink tonight, but I have to postpone that joy. Park Chan-wook until we meet again.

Director Park Chan-wook won 21st Joint Security Area JSA at 21st Blue Dragon Film Awards, 2nd with ‘Old Boy’ and 3rd Best Director at 43rd Blue Dragon Film Awards with ‘Decision to Break Up’.
