Italian media ‘Napoli Piu’ said on the 27th (Korean time), “Napoli is putting up a new defense to prevent the monster from escaping.”
Kim Min-jae moved to Napoli from Turkiye Fenerbahce ahead of this season. In his first season at the club, he became a key player at Napoli, prompting a contract extension. Amid Kim Min-jae’s performance, Napoli is looking to win the Serie A for the first time in 33 years.
Naturally, Kim Min-jae’s ransom also went up. As the interest of big clubs is focused on Kim Min-jae, it is evaluated that it will cost a considerable transfer fee. However, Napoli signed a contract with Kim Min-jae and agreed to a clause that allowed him to transfer for 48 million euros (about 64.2 billion won) from July 1 to 15. It is an amount far short of the value of Kim Min-jae that is being discussed now. For Naples, this is a missed opportunity to make big profits.
Napoli, which has become desperate, wants to renew the contract with Kim Min-jae. The goal is to remove the buyout clause or increase the amount. To this end, general manager Cristiano Giuntoli met with Kim Min-jae and began revising the terms of the contract.
According to Naples Piu, he proposed to Kim Min-jae to raise the buyout to 65 million euros (approximately 87 billion won) along with an annual salary increase. The media interpreted, “This is a part that shows that Naples is making every effort to protect Kim Min-jae. They are trying to hit a higher wall to protect the monster.”
