According to an interview with Yonhap News on the 13th, the Korean Embassy in Latvia is currently in contact with Kim’s family through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the like, but the funeral procedure has not been decided yet.
However, the bereaved family has delivered their intention to delegate the funeral to the Korean embassy.
A diplomatic source said, “The embassy will provide support as desired by the bereaved family,” but said, “I know that the place and procedure for the funeral have not been decided yet.”
An aide of director Kim also said, “There is no situation throughout the weekend,” and “I heard that there was no specific discussion on the funeral.”
It is known that the embassy plans to carry the remains to Korea this month after cremating the body of Director Kim in Latvia if the bereaved family wants after the weekend.
In the midst of this, it is reported that no one at the time knew that director Kim, who arrived in Latvia on the 20th of last month, was hospitalized at the local Riga hospital at the beginning of this month.
It is also known that the Korean embassy also heard of Kim’s death through diplomatic channels.
Russian coach Vitali Mansky, who had known with Kim, told the local media that “I later found out that Kim was hospitalized.”
Director Mansky, currently living in Latvia, was one of the first to inform foreign media about Kim’s death.
Director Mansky told foreign media that “Kim stayed in Estonia for business, but came to Latvia without a notice last month.”
An aide of director Kim also said, “I had no idea whether Kim was living in Latvia,” and said, “We only confirmed the extent of death to the bereaved through media reports.”
Director Kim, who was in the process of suing for sexual assault on the actress earlier, died of complications from Corona 19 in the Riga hospital in Latvia, one of the three Baltic countries on the morning of the 11th (local time).
