The Korean Central News Agency reported that Kim made this statement during a meeting with soldiers in the Army’s Missile Corps regarding the latest training exercises for launching an intercontinental ballistic missile.
The agency added, “Kim said that the resolute military activity carried out by the authority this time was a clear explanation of the offensive response method, the development of the nuclear strategy, and the doctrine of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea of not hesitating even to launch a nuclear attack if the enemy provokes it with nuclear weapons.”
North Korea said this week that it tested its latest intercontinental ballistic missile on Monday to measure the war readiness of its nuclear force in the face of growing US hostility, drawing condemnation from the United States and its allies.
Kim said that the test demonstrated the army’s high ability to move and attack quickly, and called for efforts to enhance the missile’s combat efficiency, the agency reported.
In a separate statement, Kim Yo Jong, Kim’s sister, denounced the UN Security Council holding a meeting on the missile launch, saying it was an exercise of the country’s right to self-defense.
