Kim Jong Un issues secret orders to prevent suicides in North Korea

Jakarta

The number of suicides in North Korea has increased this year. This makes the leader of North Korea Kim Jong Un issued secret orders for local authorities to prevent suicides.

Reported by Radio Free Asia (RFA) media, Thursday (8/6/2023), although there has been no confirmation of the number of suicides in North Korea, the South Korean National Intelligence Service (South Korea) reported at the end of May, that suicide cases had increased by around 40 % compared to last year.

South Korea’s intelligence agency said there were many factors of internal unrest in North Korea. In addition, violent crime is also said to increase as people struggle to make ends meet.

“There are many factors of internal unrest in North Korea because of the hardships of the people,” said South Korea’s intelligence agency.

RFA reported, Kim Jong Un officially defines suicide as “an act of betrayal of socialism”.

He also ordered the regional government to take preventive measures.

Secret suicide prevention orders were delivered during emergency meetings in each province of party committee leaders at provincial, city and county levels.
