Selection of candidates for president-elect… Appointment of the general shareholders

– Hana Financial Group Chairman Candidate Recommendation Committee announced on the 24th that after in-depth interviews with four finalists, Chairman Kim Jong-tae was selected as the candidate for president-elect. Chairman Kim is scheduled to be officially elected at the shareholders’ meeting in March. The term of office is until March 2022. Immediately after the announcement of the meeting, Chairman Kim said, “With a heavy sense of responsibility, I will devote myself to overcoming the crisis caused by internal and external uncertainties such as Corona 19 and stabilizing the organization of the group.” Yoon Seong-bok, chairman of Hana Financial Group, said, “In a situation where domestic and international economic uncertainty persists, Chairman Kim is the best person, who has the ability to respond actively to the organization’s stability and rapidly changing financial markets, and to achieve sustainable growth of the group. I gathered,” he explained.

Hana Financial Group Chairman’s term of office is usually three years, but Chairman Kim’s term of office is one year. According to the internal norms of Hana Financial Group’s governance structure, the age of the chairman cannot exceed the age of 70. Chairman Kim is 69 years old this year. In other words, Hana Financial Group must search for candidates for the next president-elect for the remaining one year. It is also of concern whether the judicial risk to vice chairman Ham Young-ju will be resolved during this period. Vice-Chairman Ham is on trial for a hiring corruption case, and Vice-Chairman Lee Jin-guk is suspected of selling in advance. Among the 14 subsidiaries of Hana Financial, 11 CEOs, including Hana Bank, will also end their terms next month.

Chairman Kim began his life in the financial sector at Seoul Bank in 1981 and joined Hana Bank as a founding member in 1992. After serving as the head of Hana Bank in 2008, he has been the chairman of Hana Financial Group since March 2012.
