Prosecutors asked for an arrest warrant for Kim Geun-sik, who was to be released from prison on charges of sexual assault.

A victim who was sexually assaulted by Kim Geun-sik 16 years ago recently saw a video related to Kim Geun-sik on the Internet and pointed out that he was the perpetrator, and the decision is said to have been made after the end of the accusation analyze the evidence report.

The prosecution explained the reason for requesting a warrant, saying: “The offense is serious, the residence is unclear, so there is a risk of absconding, the risk of recidivism and concerns about the damage to the victim “.

Kim Geun-sik was sentenced to 15 years in prison for raping 11 minors in the metropolitan area in 2006 and was due to be released on Monday after completing all his sentences.

However, when news recently became known that Kim Geun-sik, who could not find a suitable place to live, was living in a facility affiliated with the Ministry of Justice in Uijeongbu, Gyeonggi-do, fierce protests erupted in the area.

The mayor of Uijeongbu set up a tent in front of the Justice Protection and Welfare Corporation building where Kim Geun-sik decided to stay and set up a mayor’s office on site.

He also said that he would mobilize all administrative means, such as the closure of nearby roads, to prevent the relocation of Kim Geun-sik.

“We will use all the physical force our city can mobilize to stop it. Citizens must work together to stop us.”

As the controversy over Kim Geun-sik’s release from prison escalates, the prosecution appears to have made a hasty decision to seek a warrant.

According to the court ruling, it seems unlikely that Kim Geun-sik will be imprisoned again.
