Kim Clijsters and Kirsten flipkens missed their entry into the new season of World Team Tennis. Aligned with the New York Empire team, they lost their first game against the Orange County Breakers 22-17.

Clijsters made two appearances and lost each time. In singles, the Limbourgeoise lost 5-3 to Amanda Anisimova (WTA 77), a 20-year-old American who was semi-finalist at Roland Garros in 2019. In doubles, Clijsters who played with Flipkens, found Anisimova who formed a duet with the German Tatiana Maria. Here again, the victory did not smile on the Belgians, who were beaten 5-3.

In the mixed doubles, Flipkens was able to smile. In the company of Darian Ling, she defeated Tatjana Maria and Nate Lammons 5-2.

All World Team Tennis matches are played on the courts of Indian Wells Tennis Garden. Five teams participate. The competition continues until November 28.
