The Bizkaia Red Cross will distribute 13,067 kilos of food in favor of 871 families in social difficulty, thanks to the campaign #KilosdeSolidaridad.
This campaign, developed by Cadena SER, LOS40 and Cadena Dial together with the Carrefour Solidarity Foundation and the Red Cross, has managed to collect a total of 1,139,000 kilos of food at the state level in favor of more than 14,200 families in vulnerable situations in the country.
The objective of the initiative #KilosdeSolidaridad, framed within the Red Cross Plan RESPONDS against COVID-19, It was not only about getting as much food as possible to alleviate the emergency situation of those most affected by the crisis
economic situation of COVID-19. It also intended, through the three SER stations and their professionals, make visible the difficult situation that thousands of families face in our country and encourage participation among their listeners.
For this reason, great radio figures carried out their programs from different Carrefour hypermarkets throughout Spain, where, in addition to asking for food donations, they acted as volunteers and learned first-hand what the social work carried out by the Red Cross and Carrefour is like. In addition, they had the opportunity to interview clients who came to these centers, their directors, as well as Red Cross collaborators and volunteers.
The Red Cross is currently working on preparing the different food batches to begin distribution through its local headquarters throughout the territory.
