Ieva Rozentāle, head of the Latvian Television Culture editorial board and representative of the “Kilograms kulturas” jury, states: “Along with other important ceremonies that literally flood the cultural space at the beginning of each year, “Kilograms kulturas” stands out with its special idea – the interaction of various cultural and artistic genres – because in addition to the classical arts, several cross-genre nominations are also important here. The important thing is that the “Kilograms of Culture” ceremony is in itself a cross-genre cultural event in Latvia, where professionals from different fields of activity, different environments and circles of friends meet. Their meetings create new ideas. cooperation, but the diversity of art inspires. This year, the overall voting activity was record high, therefore, a big thank you to the wide audience of Latvian public media viewers, listeners and readers for supporting the award nominees and determining the winners.”
The nominees for the “Kilograms Culture” award were nominated by a jury of professionals in the field of social media culture, but the final decision was made solely by the viewers and listeners in ten categories – “Music”, “Cinema”, “Theatre”, “Visual art”, “Literature”, “Pop culture”. “, “Start”, “Legacy”, “Surprise”, “Event”.
“No matter what the genre is, thought and quality are important” – this is what Gunda Vaivode, director of Latvian Radio 3 “Classics” and jury representative, says about “Kilograms kulturas”. “In front of thousands of participants of the Song and Dance Festival, one person’s performance or one glass chair lives self-sufficiently. But it all resonates! It is wonderful that the voters make their independent choice, trusting the jury’s view of a slightly wider and more unusual cultural landscape.”

“Kilograms kulturas” is a public media award in the field of culture, which confirms the active participation of public media in the cultural life processes of Latvia.
