His opinion of Prime Minister (PM) Sheikh Hasina went viral and caught the attention of fellow students who did not like him.
A total of 25 students, who are also members of the ruling Awami League wing, known as the Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), called Fahad to campus to explain himself.
What happened next was horrific.
For six hours, Fahad was beaten with cricket batons and other blunt objects before his body was dropped from the stairs of the university dormitory.
The savage murder was caught on CCTV footage. It shows Fahad being led through a corridor on campus to a room where he will be interrogated and, ultimately, killed.
As many as 20 students involved in Fahad’s murder were sentenced to death by hanging in a verdict on Wednesday.
