Inhabitant Russia ran to flee to neighboring countries Georgia to avoid being called to war in Ukraine which they did not consent to.
Reported by the news agency Reuters, on Tuesday (9/27/2022), Russian state media quoted local officials as saying that, at some point on Sunday (9/25) local time, the estimated waiting time to enter Georgia was 48 hours. . More than 3,000 vehicles lined up to cross the border.
According to government statistics, Georgia’s capital Tbilisi has seen an influx of around 40,000 Russian citizens since Moscow invaded Ukraine last February 24th.

“When we heard about the mobilization, we left everything at home and got into the car,” Russian resident Dmitry Kuriliyunok in Tbilisi told Reuters.
Dmitry, his wife Irina and their young daughter cross southern Russia for the first time from Krasnodar to Mineralnye Vody in the North Caucasus, the starting point for many who cross Georgia. There, they hired a local driver to take them through the border checkpoint and after 24 hours they arrived in Tbilisi.
“We are completely against this war. For us, as for everyone else, it is scary. To die and kill other people, and for what? We don’t understand. Therefore, we have decided to run away,” he said.
The exact number of people who left Russia after the president of Russia Vladimir Putin announced what he called “partial mobilization”, it was not clear. But the first figures suggest a substantial exodus.
