Killian Hayes and Theo Maledon get the job done

We’re going back to the basics this season! So every Sunday you’ll find everything you need to know about French in the NBA here, so you don’t miss a thing of Killian Hayes’ triple single or Rudy Gobert’s new life in his pack of Wolves. This week ? Roller coaster for Killian Hayes, three disturbing letters for Evan Fournier, Rudy Gobert still dominant and Théo Maledon who seizes the opportunity where it is.

#RUDI GOBERT

It was all going well for the Wolves with something like a four-game winning streak, then Rudy and his Wolf pals retired against a horrendous Hornets armada. Our French pivot for his part didn’t have much to reproach himself in the period, we can simply note that Anthony Davis is returning to hit hard in the neck in the ranking of the best rebounders in the league.

  • Wolves vs Heat: 4 points on 4/4 shooting, 9 rebounds, 1 steal and 2 blocks in 31 minutes
  • Wolves @ Pacers: 21 points on 9/11 shots and 3/4 throws, 16 rebounds and 2 assists in 32 minutes
  • Wolves @ Hornets: 17 points on 6/10 shooting and 5/5 shooting, 17 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal and 1 counter in 34 minutes

#NICOLA BATUM

Two small games this week for Old Nic and the Clippers who have to deal with the fragile health of their star duo. The experience of the Frenchman and a few others (Reggie Jackson, Marcus Morris…) allows the Californians to hold on for the moment, but given that half of Kawhi’s paycheck goes to Nico, what do you think?

  • Clippers vs Jazz: 7 points on 3/5 shooting including 1/3 from the parking lot, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals in 25 minutes
  • Clippers vs Nuggets: 0 points on 0/3 parking, 3 rebounds and 2 blocks in 24 minutes

# FRANK DOESN’T PLAY

Incredible statistical production, worthy of that of Lucas Hernandez in Qatar.

  • Mavericks vs. Nuggets: DNP
  • Mavericks @ Celtics: 2 rebounds in 2 minutes
  • Mavs @ Raptors: DNP

#KILLIAN HAYES

Great concern on Wednesday when Kiki didn’t come back from the locker room due to an ankle problem, but two days later at the Phoenix… things went much better. Still many performance disparities but confidence seems to have returned (18 shots on Friday!). To see when Cade Cunningham will return with a probable return to the bench, but today still no Cade so let’s take what we’re given.

  • Pistons @ Nuggets: 9 points on 3/9 shooting including 1/5 from the park and 2/2 passing, 1 rebound and 9 assists in 28 minutes
  • Pistons @ Jazz: 2 points on 1/5 shooting, 3 rebounds and 3 assists in 17 minutes
  • Pistons @ Suns: 17 points on 7/18 shooting including 1/4 parking and 2/2 passing, 8 rebounds, 9 assists and 3 steals in 38 minutes

The Frenchman reappeared on the NBA roster last night in Houston, but it was hard to find his rhythm after hanging out at “the B” and facing off against Nate Pierre-Louis and Sylvain Jeanpierre for two weeks in the G League. We want to see him more but the thunder pool is deep, it’s up to him to prove himself but if there’s no rush.

  • Thunder vs. Knicks: DNP
  • Thunder vs Nuggets: DNP
  • Thunder @ Rockets: 0 points 0/4 from the parking lot, 3 rebounds and 2 assists in 21 minutes

#THEO MALEDONTE

Still no logic in Theo Maledon’s season, which chained games on the bench, games without flavor and great performances. When Théo is around, however, one wonders in what world it is possible that he doesn’t play 15 minutes minimum EVERY night, especially in a franchise whose results don’t matter this season. How do you transform a two-way contract into a fixed-term contract?

  • Hornets @ Wizards : DNP
  • Hornets vs Sixers: 4 points on 2/6 shooting including 0/1 from the parking lot, 3 assists and 2 steals in 16 minutes
  • Hornets vs Wolves: 14 points on 4/7 shooting including 1/1 from the park and 5/6 in passing, 7 rebounds, 3 assists and 1 steal in 26 minutes

# DIABATE MOUSSA

Moussa is SALE in the G League, but given the level on offer (defensive intensity in particular), we sometimes think our aunt could do the same too. Quite incomprehensible not to see him with Tyronn Lue’s band, but something tells us it could be soon.
