Who noticed the Mercedes with Heppenheim license plates in Darmstadt-Eberstadt?
South Hesse / Bensheim / Darmstadt (ots) –
Joint press release by the Darmstadt public prosecutor’s office and the South Hesse police headquarters
The now 63-year-old Dionisio Lazaro Ortiz, who last lived in Bensheim, has been missing for over five years. The police now assume a crime.
Mr. Lazaro Ortiz was a family man and very reliable. Nobody in his immediate environment thinks it is possible that he just left without saying goodbye and, above all, voluntarily. He was very closely connected with his three children and his parents in Spain. He was in regular contact with them. The question of how and, above all, why Dionisio Lazaro Ortiz disappeared from now on, is of particular concern to the family to this day. Private efforts to find out where the family man, friend and son are or what might have happened to him have so far led nowhere.
The police have carried out over 50 interviews and interrogations since they learned of Mr Lazaro Ortiz’s disappearance on June 21, 2016. Weeks after his disappearance, on July 6, 2016, the missing person’s black Mercedes station wagon was found on Brandenburger Strasse, in the Eberstadt district.
The adjacent 300,000 square meter forest area was searched with a large number of police officers and sniffer dogs. There was also a public search for Mr. Lazaro Ortiz with pictures (we had reported). However, the wanted one has not been found to this day. The police rule out a suicide and are now investigating a homicide.
The question of why the black Mercedes station wagon was parked in Eberstadt still preoccupies the investigators of the Commissariat 10 in Heppenheim. Had he met someone in the Eberstadt forest area? Was it about financial transactions that got out of hand? Mr. Lazaro Ortiz was a businessman. He often carried a lot of cash with him. When the police found his Mercedes, several thousand euros were found.
The police were able to reconstruct the last hours of his disappearance without a trace. As a result, Mr Lazaro Ortiz watched the European Football Championship with friends in a restaurant in Darmstadt-Arheilgen in the early evening of June 21, 2016. Two football matches were broadcast live on television that evening. Mr. Lazaro Ortiz watched the game Northern Ireland against Germany at 6 p.m. While he was no longer watching his top game, Spain against Croatia, kick-off at 9 p.m., with his friends.
The investigators in Heppenheim know that Mr. Lazaro Ortiz received a call around 8 p.m. and left the restaurant. To this day, it is not known who Mr Lazaro Ortiz spoke to on the phone.
The criminal investigation department therefore asks the person who spoke to Mr Lazaro Ortiz on the phone that evening to report urgently. The police hope to get more clues from her.
In addition, further witnesses are wanted who can provide information on the following questions: Who saw the missing person on June 21, 2016 from 8 p.m. in the districts of Arheilgen and Eberstadt? Who noticed the black Mercedes station wagon with the registration number HP-BJ 662?
