Killed in the square: restorative justice denied for Adriatici

(ANSA) – PAVIA, 03 APR – The request of Massimo Adriatici, 49 years old, former Northern League councilor for security in Voghera (Pavia), to access the institute of “restorative justice” in the trial in which he is accused of negligent excess of self-defense for the death of Youns El Bossettaoui, killed on the evening of 20 July 2021 by a shot fired from his gun in Piazza Meardi in the Oltrepò city. At the opening of the second hearing, taking place today in a courtroom of the Court of Pavia, Adriatici’s lawyers had announced a possible agreement with the victim’s widow. However, the woman, through her lawyer, had asked the former councilor to apologise: a request rejected, because it was considered an admission of guilt which Adriatici instead rejects. However, an economic agreement was reached with Youns El Bossettaoui’s widow for compensation of 250 thousand euros: the woman withdrew her claim as a civil party. The other civil parties (Youns’ parents and brothers and sisters) had opposed Adriatici’s request to access “restorative justice” since the first hearing of the trial (which took place last February 2).
