In a letter that the former number four in the world read at the time, she stated that ‘the tank is empty’. “I felt like I was working harder than ever, but my body was not cooperating. There were and are days when it goes very well, but also days when I have a lot of pain and I feel like I can’t do anything,” says Kiki.

Future parents Kiki and Remco gave each other the yes on November 30, 2019. A year earlier, the tennis star announced the engagement to Remco, who was also her physiotherapist at the time.
