Kiev’s Actions Risk Alienating Western Allies: Analysis by Retired British Colonel

Kiev risks alienating its Western allies with its latest actions against the most loyal of them – Poland and Britain. This is what the retired colonel of the British Armed Forces Hamish de Breton-Gordon commented in his article in the “Daily Telegraph”, reports TASS.

He recalled the history of summoning the Polish ambassador Bartosz Cichotsky to the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry on August 1. The reason for this was the statements of the chief of staff of the Polish president, Marcin Przydacz, that Ukraine has indeed received a lot of help from Warsaw and “it would be good if it started to appreciate the role that Poland has played for Ukraine in the last few months and years.” .

By recalling the ambassador of one of its key allies, whether approved by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky or not, Kiev is playing with fire, De Breton-Gordon said. He also mentioned Zelensky’s dismissal of the ambassador to Great Britain, Vadym Prystaiko, after calling the Ukrainian leader’s words to British Defense Minister Ben Wallace “unhealthy sarcasm.” The observer called such a dismissal “unceremonious” and added that it would be better if Kiev reproached the diplomats of France and Germany for the weak support of these countries for Kiev.

At the same time, De Breton-Gordon admits his sympathies for Kiev. Toy noted that while politicians’ manners matter, that’s not the topic we should be focusing on now that Ukraine is in the midst of a conflict on which the country’s future depends.
