Moscow said Kiev had used British long-range missiles against civilian targets in the eastern city of Luhansk, injuring six children. The Ministry of Defense reported that on Friday evening, the armed forces of Ukraine struck two civilian enterprises.
“The strike used Storm Shadow air-to-air missiles supplied to the Kiev regime from Britain, despite London’s declarations that these weapons would not be used against civilian targets,” the ministry said in a statement.
“Nearby residential buildings were damaged. Civilians were injured, including six children,” added the message.
The ministry said a Sukhoi Su-24 aircraft carrying the missiles and a MiG-29 aircraft were downed. By announcing that it would deliver a long-range air-launched weapon, Britain became the first country to provide longer-range weaponry to Kiev. Russia described the move as an “extremely hostile step”. /BGNES, AFP
